Patchy snow up to about 8000'/ 2440m isolated icy spots on trail from heavy hiking traffic and overnight freezing. Trail was easily manageable.

At 8100'/ 2470m snow becomes more consistent melting on E. and NE aspects snow depth 3- 4"/ 7.6-10cm BP 2-3"/ 5-7.6cm 
Loose grains under breakable thin crust N. aspects showed a light dusting on top with surface hoar prevalent in most areas.

at 9200'/ 2800m snow depth 6-8"/ 15-20cm BP 4"/ 10cm N. aspects 1.5-2"/ 3.8-5cm ice crust at ground with loose facets above covered by a thin loose slab prevalent surface hoar 

Summit at 10:40a.m. snow depth 3-4"/ 7.6-10cm BP 2"/ 5cm ice crust at ground with loose facets under a loose thin slab. all covered in surface hoar

N. NE & NW aspects showed signs of rapid warming in the previous day with heavy roller ball activity in open areas.

At noon the parking area was 40°F/ 4.4°c

Drove out through Angeles forest highway to La Canada road clear and mostly dry. From Dawson Saddle to about 4 miles West lots of rockfall on road from snow melt. not much snow cover except N aspects along drive below 8000'/ 2440m.

Kratka Ridge almost completely dry

Waterman very thin up high 

Rest of range virtually no snow
