Observer Ty Hranac Keep me anonymous if published yes Location (general area)About 50 yards NW of San Antonio Ski Hut Date (yyyymmdd) 20240210 Time 9 AM Road conditions to area Clear, good Temperature Low 30s, felt much colder with windchill and much hotter in sun Sky few clouds (up to 2/8) Wind speed Strong (26-38mph Whole trees in motion) Wind direction SE Wind direction in degrees Slope aspect South East Aspect in degrees Slope angle 25 Elevation 2500 meters Snow depth > 100 cm Boot/ Ski penetration 50 cm (if you break through crust) Precipitation None Activity, recent avalanches yes Brief description Small wet loose slide spotted on way down from Ski Hut (very close to fire road), none observed in Baldy Bowl. Whumphing noises, shooting cracks. collapsing no Rapid warming yes Obvious avalanche path yes Terrain trap no Comment Rapid warming from 9 AM - 11 AM, saw very small (barely covered boot pack, R1/D1) wet loose slide close to fire road on way back from Ski Hit, lots of roller balls observed on SE facing slops along fire road. Snowpack up by Ski Hut consisted of ~3cm of pencil firm crust with <1cm hoar underneath and then >100cm of cohesive looking 4 finger firm.
