Comment Dug 2 pits on Sunday same aspect and near same slope angle First pit 6700'- 105cm to dirt, dirt to 42cm wet rounded grains, 42 to 50 knife hard, 50 to 62 4 finger, 62 slight crust, 62 to 105 fist. Shovel test failures at 80cm Q3, 62cm Q2, 42cm Q3. Second pit 7100' 129cm to dirt, dirt to 54cm wet rounded grains, 54 to 60 knife hard, 60 to 110 4 finger, 110 slight zipper, 110 to 129 fist. Shovel test failures at 110cm Q3, 54cm Q3. Thoughts are that ice layer raises the ground, above the ice is right side up and other than subtle storm layers no issues there. The wind on Saturday was strong from NW to NE, loading and cross loading most aspects and elevations. Isolated wind slabs and unexpected firm conditions are out there.
