Hiked up Big Butch Wash out of Manker flats for a snow day. Cold, strong winds blowing down canyon, lots of areas with wind slab a few inches thick, etching on windward faces. Slab strong enough to support a light person. This was on top of soft, consolidating snow, was able to work harden for anchors as the day warmed. Appeared to be reasonably stable, didn't perform tests.
Baldy Bowl was visible all day (we were doing our workshop from 7am to 4pm) Couldn't see any people up there, didn't see any avalanches, was sun lit the whole day, no clouds. Wind appeared to be blowing snow over the ridge into the bowl from the northeast.
