Observer - Allen Giernet Keep me anonymous if published - no Location (general area) - Kratka Ridge area Date (yyyymmdd) - 2014/12/21 Time - noon Road conditions to area - clear Temperature - 43°F/ 6°c Sky - clear (no clouds) Wind speed - Light (1-16mph Flags/twigs in motion) Wind direction - NW Slope aspect - North West Aspect in degrees - 315° Slope angle - 30° Elevation - 7,400'/ 2,260m Snow depth - 2.5"/ 6cm Boot/ Ski penetration - boot pen to ground Precipitation - None Activity, recent avalanches - No Whumphing noises, shooting cracks, collapsing - no Rapid warming - no Obvious avalanche path - no Terrain trap - no Comment - No refreezing overnight Sticky soft wet snow a the start around 9:00am deteriorating snow through the day definite settlement from a couple days before Still fun riding and minor rock trouble but probably the last day of semi clean runs there Quick dig in snow at area noted above fairly consolidated snow with moist grains and free water at the base There was a minor deteriorating crust in the middle of this small pack Surface temp was a couple of degrees above freezing Stick to higher elevations for a chance of decent riding Publish this observation - Yes I would like this observation Published |
