Reports stated that snow stopped mid day Dec. 23 and temps warmed above freezing. Temperatures dropped later and another 1-2” of snow fell on a melt freeze crust.

The crust was less prominent in sheltered areas and at higher elevations. The crust was found in most places and definitely effected the downhill. The new snow bonded poorly to the crust and reacted with little energy in our CT tests. The new snow old snow interface showed some reaction but little energy. Our test area showed about 40cm of new snow. Some wind loading but not heavy loading. No signs of instability in the areas we traveled.
