Baldy Bowl Latitude Longitude Date (yyyymmdd) - 03/02/2014 Time - 12:00 Road conditions to area - Clear Road to Trailhead Temperature - 38-55 Sky - Overcast (sky covered) Wind speed - Moderate (17-25mph Small trees sway/ flags stretched) Wind direction - NE Wind direction in degrees Slope aspect - South East Aspect in degrees - 40ish Slope angle - 35 Elevation - 9,500' Snow depth - 24"-30" Boot/ Ski penetration Precipitation - Light Activity, recent avalanches - No Brief description - No Visible Avalanche Activity in the Bowl. Whumphing noises, shooting cracks. collapsing - no Rapid warming - yes Obvious avalanche path - no Terrain trap - yes Comment - Dug 2 pits on SE aspect of the bowl at 9,500'. 24"-30" snow depth. Very strong stability during shovel tests, no visible fracturing. Overall stable/safe condition as long as you have skis/board you don't mind scratching up.
